Temporary Heights - Ude Ugo

They come in various shapes, colors, sizes, lengths and are very attractive and mostly expensive. They can turn your outfit from simple to classy and to even elegant. They are our very best friends; ladies, I'm talking about HEELS.

Heels can be of various lengths ranging from 3 inches to an alarming 6 inches and even more! Heels here, heels there; they have been a craze for a while and are even evolving. Our once athletic shoes and pumps now have wedges.

“Stop and go straight to the point”, you may say. Don’t get offended keep reading and stay with me on this. I am trying to relate the heels we are so fond of to classes, status quos, codes of conducts and social hierarchy.

Codes of conducts, status quos and class are important for us as femmes to be accepted in society and I totally agree with that. Because of them, we strive to look posh and in place. However, sometimes we can not cope with them. The higher the class and social standing and hierarchy the higher the rules and most at times they are so much you can’t even keep up any longer. But here's the thing, we're doing it to ourselves. We make trends what they are by chasing them like hungry dogs will chase a stranger. We form clubs, cliques and societies with no particular purpose than to showcase the latest trends when there is a world to heal. To the ladies and anyone reading this, it is time to step down from our high horses, take off the shades and see the pain and suffering in the world that we can alter.

Remember, just as heels have a lasting painful effect to our feet and backs so do purposeless status quos, class and clubs to our beings; they are tolerable, but not expedient.

People, it’s time to stop focusing on kinky curls, apple bottoms, MAC and IPhones and begin to make an effort to change our world. Remember, heels fade and class is forgotten.
                                                                                                                                                      PEACE!!!

Ude Ugo is a high school student, no kidding.
