Stay in your place. Keep your head lowered and your face veiled. Keep your thoughts to yourself. Hide your glow; let no man see your beauty. Do not seek to know more than you do, you don’t want to look too smart. If a man happens to be attracted to you, do everything you can to keep his attention, you might not find another one. Be sure to merge with the crowd, do not stand out. Never wear red. Do not speak unless you’re spoken to. Do not laugh out loud. Refrain from trying new things, stick to the things your mother did before you. Take what you get, don’t want more. Be content with your situation. Do exactly what everyone else says you should. Dreams are stupid. It is not your lot to be happy, if you are, then you’re lucky.

Be the most sublime version of yourself that you can be, girl. Say what you want, when you want to. Be humble, but be confident. Be cautious, but take leaps. Fall in love, be respectful, but, don’t be a subordinate. You’re smart, contribute.
Chase butterflies. Be colorful. Wear scarlet everyday if you want to. Love black or adore pink. Watch your figure or don’t. Wear heels or jungle boots. Take ballet or tae kwan do. Don’t you ever forget you have a choice.
Study, don’t forget to study. Learn. Grow. Expand your horizon. Be as fashionable as appeals to you, but, be smart too.
Read, watch, listen, but, do not forget to speak.
